Material processing

The processing of materials develops heat and dust. Concentrations of dust from wood and metal manufacturing poses a risk of starting an explosion if exposed to an ignition source such as a spark or a flame.

In the processing of wood or timber sparks can occur if the material contains an undiscovered piece of metal, such as a nail or screw etc. Furthermore, wedged or jammed material in the production plant may generate enough heat to start a fire.
